China and African countries have advanced together on the path of win-win cooperation and mutual development, with energy cooperation emerging as a key focus of China-Africa collaboration. According to the latest data released by the China National Energy Administration, under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, a number of technologically advanced and environmentally friendly China-Africa energy cooperation projects have been implemented in over 40 countries and regions across Africa. These projects span various fields, including solar power, wind energy, hydropower, and biomass, adding 120 GW of new electricity capacity and constructing 66,000 kilometers of grid lines. This cooperation not only enhances Africa's power supply capabilities but also promotes the energy transition in Africa, helping more African countries achieve green development.

In South Africa, the De Aar wind power project under CHN Energy Longyuan Power, is the first wind power project in Africa invested, constructed and operated by a Chinese state-owned enterprise. This project has not only helped accelerate economic integration between China and Africa but also set a model for China-South Africa collaboration in the renewable energy sector. In 2023, it was selected as a green energy model case for the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.

"Through continuous communication and promotion via existing mechanisms, many Chinese enterprises have been encouraged to participate in energy cooperation with Africa, supporting the implementation of more projects that enhance local living standards and promote green development. So far, the energy cooperation projects between both sides have progressed smoothly, and the total capacity of clean energy cooperation projects under planning and construction or with investment intentions has reached nearly 20 GW. This lays a solid foundation for future collaboration," said Dong Xiang, Deputy Director of the International Department at the National Energy Administration.
