As of September 8, the cumulative filling volume of the dam of the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station on the Dadu River exceeded 25.42 million cubic meters, accounting for 56.29% of the total planned filling volume, marking the halfway point of the project. This milestone lays a solid foundation for the dam to begin water storage by the end of 2024 as scheduled.
The dam of the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station under construction
Located on the border of Ma'erkang City and Jinchuan County in Sichuan Province's Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station is a key national project for clean energy. The hydropower station, with a total installed capacity of 2,000 megawatts as planned, consists of a dam, water discharge facilities, and a water diversion and power generation system. Its gravel-earth core rockfill dam has a designed height of 315 meters and a designed crest length of 640 meters. When completed, it will become the tallest dam in the world, with a total filling volume of over 45 million cubic meters.
